Let’s talk TV mounting brackets. In my opinion the easiest LCD TV brackets to use for mounting your TV are the standard flat brackets. Very simple. Two pieces. One piece mounts to the wall, and the other to the back of the TV. Once these two pieces are put into place, you simply snap them together, and this results in a beautiful display.

Most of the bolt hole patterns on the back of TV’s these days are standard. Meaning they are all the same. The exception being that some 26 inch units are not compatible with brackets that fit 17 to 26 inch TV’s. A move up to larger size bracket might be needed. Be aware of this and always check the hole sizes before you make a purchase.

When shopping for mounting brackets remember to match the LCD TV bracket to the weight of the television. Today’s TV’s have steel framing or backing on the inside that will allow your television adequate support when attached to the wall bracket.

If you are unable to find your TV’s owners manual, consider checking the manufacturers site. Most of the time you will be able to find an online version of the owners manual that will have all the information you need about mounting your TV. You can also look at the back of the set. Look for 4 screw holes. You will see metal posts inside the holes., these are attached to a structure within the TV. These are the holes you will use for mounting.

Most LCD TV bracket kits will come with several different types and sizes of screws. Different lengths, diameters with spacers included.

Before you jump in, read the owners manual. It will contain helpful information for mounting the television to the wall. Make sure you purchase a LCD TV bracket that will fit the size of your television and hold the weight as well. If you are the handyman type, hanging the television yourself should not be a problem. Just make sure you plan ahead so that the installation goes smoothly.

You will find that most LCD TV brackets come with a horizontal rectangle type frame. This allows it to span across 2 wall studs. Securing the bracket to the studs is what will allow the bracket to hold the weight of the entire television.

Some of the things that you should watch for before mounting your TV are knowing where the holes are on the back of the set. If you’re cable connectors are close to the these holes where the bracket will be connected it may be difficult to reach them once you have the TV mounted. You may have to consider connecting the television cables before mounting.

Before you hang your television consider the distance between the back of the television and the wall. Make sure that the appropriate people in the house are aware of how far the TV will protrude from the wall. If you think you will not be happy with the television’s position out from the wall you may want to consider having the LCD TV bracket inset. This would be similar to how a bathroom medicine cabinet is mounted and would entail some added carpentry construction work.

When it comes time to mount your TV, two people are needed, but three people would be ideal. Having two people to lift the television and snap into place and the third person to help guide it in the right direction.

If you are having trouble deciding where the TV should go and how high or low on the wall it should be, try using masking tape to outline where you think you want the television. This way you can sit on the couch and get a visual idea of the comfort level. You want the TV to be at eye level while sitting. This will avoid strain on the neck.

Before you start your project, make sure you have thought everything through. Make sure you know where the TV is going, and have all the tools ready. It is not a difficult job, but it does take some handyman skills to get it done. Having a buddy over to help you with the project would be helpful.

Enjoy your new TV viewing experience.

Choose your TV Bracket

There are many types of TV brackets available on the market today. They are available in different colors and designs. The question arises. How do you choose which bracket you really need? You should take good care and do a lot of research when making this decision.

First, make sure to choose the right size TV bracket. Check the VESA spacing. This is the distance between the mounting holes on the back panel of your LCD TV. Smaller TV’s should have VESA 100 or 200 spacing. With VESA 100 spacing the TV has 4 holes in a square laid out at a distance of 100 mm each. The larger TVs have a VESA spacing of VESA 400. It is extremely important that the LCD TV bracket that you are purchasing is compatible with the VESA spacing of your TV.

Another important thing is to make sure you have proper spacing for wiring of cable and components. Proper layout space for wiring is a sign of a good quality TV mounting system, and placement of your components is a big consideration when choosing a TV bracket. You should have the capability to expand, making space for a growing home theater area. Think ahead. Give yourself plenty of wiggle room.

Fixed TV mounting brackets, Swivel TV brackets, Articulating mounts. There are many choices. Whatever your decision. Take it one step at a time to ensure a quality end result in your home or office.
