When I decided that I wanted to display my television on the wall I had to make a decision as to what type of TV bracket I was going to use. My question to myself was, how would I be using my television? Would I be sitting mostly in the same general area every time? Would I want to watch it from different areas of the room?
Flat TV Brackets.
TV brackets that are flat mounting are the easiest to install and the least expensive. They are extremely secure. If installed correctly you will not have to fret about your television falling off the wall. Flat mount TV brackets come in sturdy, low profile designs, adding a very elegant touch to the room.
Tilting TV Brackets
The tilting TV brackets have an added advantage of being able to swivel into several directions. The tilt angle can be adjusted to fit your viewing needs. Of course along with the functionality of this design, the TV bracket is usually thicker than the flat TV brackets. They also stand out from the wall further.
It wasn’t a tough decision for me. I usually sit in the same location when I watch television, and I really adore the look of a flat screen TV mounted on the wall as if it where a picture.
Let me know. What type are you?
If you are planing to use Tv brackets to place your television on a wall there are some obstacles that can get in the way. Mounting your display so that it is secure is your number one priority. Making sure there are no obstacles on the wall you choose for your Tv mounts is also important.
It is best to use a stud finder to locate the studs in the wall. It is the studs that you will be using to secure your Tv brackets to the wall. This will allow for your display to be securely fastened. LCD and Plasma Televisions can be quite heavy, but securing the Tv bracket into these studs will guarantee your display will not go crashing to the ground.
The second thing to take into consideration when choosing the wall where you will be using your Tv brackets are obstacles that will prevent you from running your power and video through the wall and down to the electrical outlet. You do not want your wires and cables to just hang down the wall.
There is really only one other big step that I can think of that will take a little thought. Making sure that you attach the Tv bracket so that it is straight. You can use a couple simple tools to insure accuracy, a pencil and a level.
These are just the basic challenges you will face in doing the job yourself. It’s not that difficult really, if you consider yourself fairly handy around the house. You can have a beautifully displayed television mounted to your wall in less than an hour.
If you are thinking about mounting your LCD or plasma television to the wall you are probably trying decide if you want to do it yourself or hire a professional. I would say that if you are comfortable with doing your own home improvement, you will probably be fine doing it yourself.
